Community Impact
We’re Focused on What Matters Most Right Now in Howard County, Maryland
Since 2022, the Junior League of Howard County (JLHC) has been promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. We are deeply committed to improving the welfare and empowerment of women and children in the Howard County area. Members of JLHC serve as catalysts for lasting community change. Our volunteers develop and implement programs and events that directly respond to our most pressing community needs.

At the Junior League of Howard County, we are committed to addressing critical issues that affect our community—specifically food insecurity, period poverty, and health disparities. In collaboration with local organizations, such as Columbia Community Care and Grassroots, we drive change through advocacy, education, and hands-on community service.
To date, we’ve equipped our members with specialized training on food security and period poverty, while providing meaningful volunteer opportunities to directly support those in need. We are also in the process of developing a signature project that will deepen our impact in these focus areas.

By empowering women with leadership skills, educating them on pressing community challenges, and encouraging them to apply their unique talents, the Junior League of Howard County fosters lasting, positive change. Our mission is to help women develop civic leadership through meaningful work, focusing currently on food security and period poverty—offering opportunities to grow while making a real difference in the communities where they live, work, and play.
